Eligibility Requirements
The Personal Accident Insurance is available to active and retired federal employees. You can enroll just yourself or you and your family. No health statement is required.
Active Federal Employee
- Resides in the U.S.
- Permanent full-time or part-time status
- On active pay and duty status

- Resides in the U.S.
Death Benefit Payable for Family Coverage:
- Member, Spouse and Children:
Member Death: 100% of Coverage Amount
Spouse Death: 50% of Member Coverage Amount
Child Death: 15% of Member Coverage Amount to maximum $50,000 per child - Member and Spouse:
Member Death: 100% of Coverage Amount
Spouse Death: 60% of Member Coverage Amount - Member and Children:
Member Death: 100% of Coverage Amount
Child Death: 20% of Member Coverage Amount to maximum $50,000 per child

Additional Benefits:
- Safe Driver – additional benefit, 10% to maximum $30,000, paid if you die due to an auto accident and you were wearing a seat belt and an airbag was deployed.
- Education – a benefit paid following your death for your dependent who is enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher learning beyond grade 12 within 365 days following your death, maximum $5,000 per year for 4 years.
- Child Care – if you die as a result of a covered accident, this benefit will provide for child care expenses of a covered dependent child, under age 13. The annual benefit is 5% of the coverage amount to maximum $5,000 per year for up to 4 years.
